What Is A Turnkey Racing Simulator?

What is a turnkey racing simulator?

A turnkey racing simulator is a completely configured and preloaded simulator experience.

That means everything… The pc, monitors, simulator cockpit, simulator hardware are all put together and ready to go with games.

Traditionally, when you purchase a racing simulator, you have to purchase every part separately. The chassis, seat, wheelbase, steering wheel, pedals, shifter, handbrake, monitor stand, monitor(s), computer, and have to set up and wire manage everything.

This will take anywhere from 25-40+ hours to build, setup, and dial everything in. And if you get motion or haptics for your simulator, it will most definitely be longer.

And this isn’t an exaggeration. It will take you HOURS to put stuff together. I know multiple people who have said, “Oh I’ll just build my simulator.”

I give them a list of parts, and by hour 10 they’re ready to throw a wrench through their wall and say words that I can’t even comprehend.

Now, yes, some companies allow you to purchase the simulator chassis and hardware (wheelbase, pedals, etc) together.

Which is very helpful. It’s a part of our plans to have a configurator.

But you still have to purchase other peripherals (PC, monitors, headset), etc, which can be a headache in and of itself.  And of course, you have to build, setup, manage, and dial in.

So what makes a turnkey simulator better?

A lot of people underestimate the power of the turnkey simulator.

Yes, it’s more expensive.

Yes, the lead time is longer.

But, a turnkey racing simulator's benefit is in its name... it is turnkey.

You don't have to build, setup, manage, and dial in your simulator. When you purchase a turnkey simulator, it is delivered, configured and ready to play.

Turnkey services are built and wire managed (and if it's done well, it’s beautiful: like ours).

Hours of work, numerous curse words, and a couple existential crises are saved by getting it pre-built instead of building it yourself.

And on top of that, if you get it built by professional sim racers/people who live and breathe sim racing (like ourselves), your seating position and monitor position is dialed.

Those two things are possibly the most overlooked, especially the monitor position.

The monitor is how you see into the virtual world. It’s your most important sense when sim racing. It’s how you’ll react and of course see where you’re going.

So, you’ve probably heard that some people say “sim racing isn’t realistic, the monitors make everything feel lightspeed or super slow.”

To say the least, it can definitely make or break things.

So having a pre-built setup, especially from Boundless Racing, will ensure that your FOV & driving position are top notch.

Even though it’s more expensive and you don’t get that instant gratification, turnkey simulators might be something you should consider.

The standard process of buying a sim rig is, again, separate boxes having to build it and put it all together....
