The Importance of Esports in Sim Racing

With the rise of sim racing has come the increase of sim racing esports.

Popularized by the Gran Turismo Movie, esports sim racing gives racers the opportunity to have that competitive nature of racing and build their racecraft.

Not to mention, esports sim racing has brought not only the games/platforms but also the sim racing hardware closer to that 1:1 realism every car enthusiast craves when it comes to sim racing.

Companies like HeusinkveldSimucubeSimagic, and many more utilize esports and competitive sim platforms such as iRacing to test and benchmark their products. Wheelbases, wheels, and pedals are tested and benchmarked this way not only to give a better feel but also to give proper feedback to the driver.

And not to mention, people like Jann MardenboroughBryan HeitkotterJames Baldwin, and Alan Hynes (pictured in the green Mustang above) have used their experience of sim racing to carry over into real life. Whether it be racing or drifting, practicing in esports not only improves your race craft and racing skills but also makes the driver get used to the pressures of driving in a competitive format.

In addition, it's not only drivers transitioning from sim racing to real life but also professional racing drivers. For example, the best example, 4x F1 World Champion Max Verstappen lives and breaths sim racing. Notably, sim racing late into the night during F1 weekends.

He even participates in and sponsors his sim racing team and drivers within Team Redline

To segue perfectly, we are proud to announce our own esports team with professional esports drivers Brandon PatrickZack O'Sullivan, and Brandon Gardner (the Boundless Racing founder). All of these guys are participating in the Virtual Drift Championship, the Formula DRIFT of the virtual world. Patrick and O'Sullivan are piloting B58 E36's and Gardner is driving a B58 Toyota GT86 (pictured above).

We are excited for another layer of Boundless Racing, utilizing the products and ideologies of Boundless Racing in an esports setting.
